We are hoping to find an assisted living facility where the different care needs of mom and dad can be taken cared of. We want our parents to live together to make the move to an assisted living easier. Is there really a difference between the service provided in a smaller residential care home vs a large assisted living facility?

There are several assisted living facilities for senior couples around the country and I bet there are several in your area. They allow senior couples to stay in the same room. If you want this for your parents, you will have to talk to the assisted living facility administrator and mention that you prefer your parents to share the room to make the transition easier. Most often than not an assessment test is done to check whether or not it will be okay for the senior couple to live together.

You\'re right the large assisted living facilities charge a lot more because of the services and programs they offer. I will talk to my parents about it and see which one they prefer. I think activities-wise I prefer a large assisted living facility for my parents.

Large assisted living facilities charge a lot more compared to the small assisted living facilities. Though most of the time quality of services offered are the same. I prefer the small assisted living facilities as they offer a more personalized care and it makes it easier for the seniors to adjust because its a small house- it has that \"just like home\" feeling.

You\'re right. I spoke to my parents and they both like to stay in a large assisted living facility because they like the resort-living style with all the programs and activities. They said they\'ll be bored staying in a small care home. I know large assisted living facilities are more expensive but I think it is worth it because they have all the activities, programs and staff that my parents need. It\'s also good to know that both my parents can stay in one room although they have different care needs.
