It\'s getting tougher and tougher everyday. So many layoffs, businesses are closing left and right, foreclosures here and there, what else? I\'m wondering when will this economic meltdown ever end? It\'s been several over 2 years now and I don\'t think we\'ve hit rock bottom yet. Maybe another 2-3 years of this economic depression?

I hear you. Although, I want to see the end of this economic depression now, I don\'t think it will happen soon. I agree with you, I think another 2 to 3 years of depression. I\'ve been seeing a lot of layoffs. This is a very difficult time for the nation. I wish the government can do something now to resolve this depression.

Sad to say but I think we have not hit rock bottom. I\'d say 3-4 more years of financial hardship for the Americans.

Consumer spending is a big factor. If consumers shop and continue to spend it will definitely help boost our economy. But the sad thing is that people are worried about finances and the future. Therefore, scared to shop and buy unnecessary things.

I live in a state where senior citizens flock to retire. I couldn\'t have known we were in a recession, because at my job, a major health supplies provider to hospitals, we\'ve made more money than we have ever during this recession. We have been sucking up business from lesser competitors. I don\'t know if that has to do with the elderly really getting sick that we are making more, but other than our company using the recession as an excuse to cut wages, my company has flourished during this time.

I think it\'s going to be several years at least before we see a significant improvement in the economy. It makes me wonder where our seniors are going to be by then and how they\'re getting through this. I don\'t agree with a lot of our assistance programs in this country, but one thing I do believe wholeheartedly is that we must take good care of our elderly.

Well our traditional ways of being taught about getting a good job and getting a pension plan for retirement is some of the most outdated and bad advice. We\'ve got to take steps while we\'re young to build up investments or some sort of income where our retirement won\'t rely soley on the federal government to take care of us, because it just doesn\'t work.

This doesn\'t have anything to do with the recession. It was happening to our elderly people before this recession began. The problem is our government doesn\'t focus on the problems in our country enough. Whenever something happens with the world they are quick to spend billions on giving aid or going to war. The solution to solving all that spending for them is to raise taxes on our own people. The government can do more, but they won\'t because they have their own agenda, and it\'s certainly not what the founding forefathers had in mind in creating this great country.
