Hospice coming in 10 months, 3 weeks ago #13000

We have a friend who has been sent home from the hospital. They have called in Hospice, so it's just a matter of time. We're all pitching in to do what we can for our friend, but there's not a lot for people to do at this point.

That's a sad thing to hear, and it must be hard for the senior's family and friends. Just give the senior all the palliative care possible. I agree that at this point, there is nothing much that can be done.

I believe this is one thing families are for. The few times I've been involved with older family members in this situation has been such a beautiful, even if difficult, time for families as they come together in love and remembrance of lives lived well.

I'm so sorry to hear such bad news, I always am. Making your friend comfortable is the only thing you can do right now. Just keep a positive attitude around him and make sure he knows that you care.

Just being there will speak volumes to him and the family. Maybe prepare a meal for them and include the patient's favorite foods. It's the little things that count at this time. Been there, done that and it's no fun at all.

I really think that hospice care fills a very important role in helping a person and their loved ones prepare for death. I greatly admire those who involve themselves in this type of work.
