My client is a senior and has shown an interest in taking on a high protein, low carb diet. What would be the benefits and consequences of such a diet for a senior with only minor health problems?

I would think the same as for someone younger but I would talk with your seniors doctor and see if this would be a healthy diet them.

It\'s strange, but many seniors seem to like the Atkins Diet, which is a similar high protein low-carb diet, but I\'ve never understood how eating so much meat could be good for anyone.

I\'m guessing such type of diet isn\'t the best one for seniors. I think high protein, low-carb diet is commonly followed by individuals who want to lose weight, and I\'m not sure if it\'s a healthy way to lose those extra pounds even for the younger group.

Doyenne, that\'s what I\'ve been wondering. It just doesn\'t sound like the best diet to me. I\'m really not sure why my client is showing such an interest in it. She wants to pursue a healthier diet, not necessarily lose weight, but I think I\'m going to try to point her in another direction.

I think it\'s hard on the kidneys. You definitely check with your doctor and see what they say. They know your health status and if your body can handle it.
